Today's topics:
Defcon: Shannon and Patrick will be working the Hak5 vendor booth at Defcon... and sneaking off to see speakers when they can! Come say hi!
Epson ET-4550 EcoTank All-in-One Printer: Can Epson's new EcoTank printers save you thousands? Epson says $50 of EcoTank ink = $800 in traditional cartridges! We tested one of the new prtiners... and we gotta say it's a lot nicer than the Bulk Ink System Patrick kluged onto his Epson Artisan!
Sandisk Connect Wireless Stick: Stream media, back up photos. Sandisk's new Connect Wireless Stick is tiny and travel friendly... but is it as fast as other Wi-Fi drives???
Storing Flash Drives: Tom writes, "I wonder if either of you have figured out a way to keep all their flash drives organized and easy to find. I have flash drives for Spinrite, Clonezilla, Acronis, Puppy LInux, Ubuntu, Computer Repair Kit, Windows 8, Windows 10 etc. They are all just hanging on the side of a book case. Do you have or know of a better way to keep these organized - sort of like the old days when you could keep your CDs and DVDs in a 3 ring binder." We do! Watch the video to find out how we store ours, along with some other options like the ZHPUAT Digital Gadget Case.
Legal Blu-ray Copying? Mark writes, "Do you have any recommendations for *LEGAL* DVD/Blu Ray copying software. I want to make both backup discs and save the files to my hard drive." You could use MakeMKV or something like SlySoft’s AnyDVDHD:  ... but thanks to the DMCA there's no legal way for US citizens to back up their DVDs or Blu-rays.
Raspberry Pi GPIO + BASH? Josh writes, "How easy would it be to get the gpio pins on the Pi to work with bash? I don’t know Python (I know bash) and that seems to be mostly what I find when I search." Good news, Josh, you can use Python, C/C++, and, yes, BASH to control those pins. Check out Bash Script Control of GPIO Ports  for more info!
WiFi Sense -Isn't- A Threat??? . A lot of folks wrote to tell us that Wi-Fi Sense is -not- a security risk, because it's not enabled by default...
Windows 10 Defaults to Keylogging: ...meanwhile, BoingBoing points out that Windows 10 defaults to keylogging, harvesting browser history, purchases, and covert listening. Want to turn all that off? Check out BGR's Windows 10 is spying on almost everything you do – here’s how to opt out”
Intel Skylake Core i7-6700K: And suddenly, Patrick wants to build a new Gaming and Video Editing PC... we've got hte word on Intel's new Skylake CPUs... PCPer.com has some great testing!!!
Free Lynda.com! Tom writes, "Our library has started offering Lynda.com. Check your local library and see if they have it or might offer it in the future." Thanks, Tom!
Do something analog! Like downloading tablature so you can learn some songs on your ukulele!    (OK, downloading isn't analog, but the uke certainly is!)
